hla- b*1502 in iranian children with anticonvulsant drugs-induced skin reactions

چکیده
objectives: anticonvulsant drugs can cause various forms of skin drug reactions, ranging from exanthema to severe blistering reactions. some studies have reported an association between hla-b*1502 allele and severe skin reactions. materials and methods: fifteen patients with severe skin reactions following treatment with anticonvulsant drugs (carbamazepine, lamotrigine, phenobarbital, primidone) and 15 controls (age matched epileptic patients taking similar anticonvulsants without drug eruption) were included in this study. genomic dna was extracted from peripheral blood of all patients and hla- b*1502 genotype was detected by real time pcr. results: none of the patients was positive for hla- b*1502, but two patients in control group had positive hla- b*1502. conclusion: the hla- b*1502 is not correlated with severe anticonvulsant drugs -induced skin reactions in iranian children.

متن کاملHLA Association with Drug-Induced Adverse Reactions
Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) remain a common and major problem in healthcare. Severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions (SCARs), such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) with mortality rate ranges from 10% to more than 30%, can be life threatening. A number of recent studies demonstrated that ADRs possess strong genetic predisposition. ADRs induced by several drugs...

Objective Recently, skin reactions to luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone (LH-RH) agonist therapy were reported after the 3-month depot type was released. We evaluate skin reactions to the 3-month depot type of LHRH agonist by questionnaires obtained from patients with prostate cancer who had been given a subcutaneous injection of LH-RH agonist. Materials and Methods A questionnaire regarding...
متن کاملDrug-induced skin reactions
Cutaneous drug eruptions are one of the most common types of adverse reaction to drug therapy, with an overall incidence rate of 2–3% in hospitalised patients.1–3 Almost any medicine can induce skin reactions, and certain drug classes, such as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), antibiotics and antiepileptics, have drug eruption rates approaching 1–5%.4 Although most drug-related sk...
متن کاملAnticonvulsant Drugs and Severe Adverse Cutaneous Drug Reactions: A Longitudinal Observational Study
Background: Severe Adverse Cutaneous Reactions to Drugs (SACRDs) are skin eruptions due to drugs, which can cause morbidity and morbidity in patients. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the offending drug/agents and clinical phenotypes of SACRDs leading to admissions to the hospital. Materials & Methods: We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional study during one year (March...
